Carved Teak Heron
I've been quite intrigued by our teak heron and I can't quite figure out what his origins are. He's as sleek as the best of them, but carries a little more decorative detail than more typical mid-century Danish teak bird carvings one sees. Some feather detail has been included on his body, a small marking to indicate an eye, and his stand is a little more roughly carved than those one sees in classic Scandi versions. He may well be local but for the most part, home-grown carvings tend to be considerably more intricate - colourful at times too. This fellow is somewhere in the middle, but a beautiful carving and certainly a vintage piece.
Dimensions
The carving measures 36cm tall; base measures 5.6cm long x 4.5cm wide.
