Crown Devon Pitcher
While trying to pinpoint the exact vintage of this pitcher, I learnt that the same shape (identified as A165) was made in different colours including mint, pink and a mottled yellow, along with a gold painted trim at the handle and around the rim. Our little pitcher is not quite so glam, but I think the simple and beautiful lemon yellow, minus the gold, is perfect for this piece as it gives focus to the amazing shape and fine decorative features of the piece. Given the unique shape, there’s no doubt that the pitcher is art-deco, and was likely manufactured between 1940-1960. Of course you can use the pitcher for its intended purpose, but it’s so gorgeous that I’d be inclined to keep it on display or use it as a vase. Last but not least, this piece has clearly been well loved – it is in immaculate condition with only some crazing on the inside of the pitcher.
