Retro Single Headboard

It's not often one finds great retro headboards for single beds - and with an attached pedestal to boot. We gave the wooden frame some TLC, a revarnish and replaced the foam and vinyl of the main back-rest. I love the detail used in finishing off this piece - the square drawer handle in particular is a firm favourite, and I also rather like the protruding wooden rail. I'm not sure if this is simply a design quirk or serves a function - my guess would be for attaching a lamp? At any rate, this one is an unusual and handsome retro headboard, and a great boost to a retro-lovers rest space.
