Retro Bentwood Chair
We're not certain what type of wood this chair is made from - possibly beech, but it certainly has some handsome curves and is sturdy as ever. The beautiful shape of the legs and backrest suggest it originates from the 50s or 60s and true to trends of the period, subtle design features add a whole lot of flair to a piece of furniture. Sadly, it came as a solo piece but I think it would make for an excellent desk chair, and then of course, it is always handy to have a spare around for extra folks at the dinner table. The chair has clearly been much sat-upon and carries some battle scars (see images), but it's in good nick for it's years. In any case, we opted to give it a little TLC with a sanding, a new coat of oil and tightened up a couple of loose joins.
