Portmeirion "Totem" Gravy Boat
I'm a fan of Portmeirion and perhaps one of their most lovely designs (aside from the joyful "Botanic Garden") is their Totem design, created by Susan Williams-Ellis, a formidible force in the world of British pottery design. I so enjoy the abstract and textured pattern that is Totem, and it's quite remarkable that the design was created in 1963 - it was no doubt futuristic and unusual for its time, but it has remained fabulous! Timeless classics like this one are gold star pieces in my book! The gravy boat and stand have been finished in a pretty sage glaze, and overall they're in great condition. There is some crazing to the glaze, and on the under-rim of the stand there are three tiny scuffs to the ceramic (please see image) but these don't really worry me at all. I like that the gravy boat is generous in size, and of course with the delicate colour of the set, it's an easy one to match with a current dinner service.
Dimensions
Gravy boat is 20cm long (from handle to spout) x 10cm wide x 7cm tall; dish is 19.5cm long x 17cm wide.
