Mid-Century Extendable Dining Table
I think this might be one of my favourite pieces of furniture we've hosted here at The Good Home. The table is an absolute beauty and has been finished in a handsome and great quality veneer. For a refresh, we sanded it down and re-sealed it to preserve and protect the beautiful grain. As is, it can seat 4-5 and on extension up to 8 comfortably, and the mechanism for opening and closing the table is really nifty, and works perfectly. I think it was usually kept in the smaller format as there's a slight mismatch in the colour of the veneer on the outer panels against the central piece that folds in. This is relatively common for extendable tables where the fold up panel is often kept tucked away and protected from light and use... at any rate, it's quite muted and even more so when we were finished working on it. I believe the table is a local manufacture by Novocraft, a Germiston based company. Information about the company is scant which is really sad as they manufactured some beautiful pieces in their time!
Viewing can be arranged in Jozi.
