Large Retro Alfaraz Ceramica Ashtray

I'm always amazed by the variety, character and beauty of some of the handsome ashtrays I've come across, and even as a non-smoker, I find myself devising alternative uses for some of these beauties - like this mid-century gem which was manufactured by Ceramica Artistica Alfaraz, a company that was opened in 1952 by Miguel Durán-Loriga Rodrigáñez, a well-known architect, ceramicist and designer. I've seen some pretty wonderful creations by the pottery house including platters, ashtrays and remarkable figurines, and unsurprisingly, their pieces have become sought after and collectible. I had half a mind to hang on to this gorgeous ashtray as a drip tray for a pot plant, it's certainly big enough and has been finished with some fine details around the rim. But of course, as an ashtray you'll benefit from the cigarette rests around the edge, the generous size, and that fabulous glaze doesn't hurt to look at either!
