Kasuga Showa Part Coffee Service
I was immediately drawn to this set, and the coffee pot in particular which is relatively big as vintage coffee pots go, and as you can see - it's super unusual! It's an amazing design and in trying to learn more about the Japanese company that manufactured the pieces, I learnt that the protrusions on each side of the pot are for a separate hand hold that hooks onto each - presumably to facilitate pouring. It's a smart design and classicaly Japanese in it's quirky yet elegant construction. The glaze on the pot, sugar bowl and creamer is immaculate, the colour handsome and the design detail super pretty. All the pieces are in excellent condition too! As coffee is usually served differently these days, I'd probably use the coffee pot as a water carafe, or even as a vase given it's bigger proportions and beautiful design. Back to the Kasuga Showa company - well, there was little to learn of them unfortunately and I would guess that the company is no longer in operation. We are selling the creamer and sugar bowl as a set, and the pot separately.
