Ice Glass Candle Holder by Pukeburg, Sweden
The original design and under-stated elegance of this candle-holder is a fine example of Scandi design, and beautifully illustrates why their mid-century wares are loved the world over. The glass is relatively weighty and in mint condition. I really like the fact that it sits low on a table which is always handy for dinner-time (nothing like moving vases or table decor around to have a chat with the person sitting opposite!). That said, it's such an exquisite piece I think I'd keep this one out on a regular basis to be enjoyed! (And dare I say, it may even cheer me up on a poorly timed load-shedding evening). The piece dates to the 1970s and was designed by Staffan Gellerstedt for Pukeberg, Sweden. Stock-standard candles fit nicely into the wells (the ones in the image were purchased from Plastic Land).
Dimensions
The candle holder measures 20.5cm long x 20.5cm wide x 3cm high.
