Vintage Glasi Hergiswil Candle Holder

Vintage Glasi Hergiswil Candle Holder

I was so drawn to this candle holder for the clean lines and neat design. It's also been made from a hefty piece of clear glass, and is of course handblown. The Glasi company is Swiss, and opened their doors all the way back in 1817. The longevity of the company has been largely credited to Roberto Niegerer, a Swiss artist and glass-blower - he's also the artist that designed the candle-holder, amongst a series of other innovative and cool pieces. I haven't been able to date the piece, but it likely pre-dates the 1980s. While the company remains open and busy, I really do think that their vintage pieces are far superior in style and beauty to what's available today. The candle holder holds two candles and as per the picture, stock-standard super-market candles fit snugly in the holders.
