G.C. Ware Teapot and Milk Jug

This lovable brown retro teapot and milk jug were manufactured in South Africa by G.C. Ware, a maker’s mark I’ve seen frequently but sadly, information about the company is scant and I have no idea when they were in operation. The company has made many fabulously stylish pieces in ‘vitreous china’, a term that refers to the enamel coating applied after the ceramics have been fired, making the porcelain stronger and shinier – our teapot and milk jug are fine examples and both pieces are in mint condition! The boxy design, colour scheme and mottled cream-brown trim suggest that this hip pair originate from the 70s.
