Dutch "Gouda" Vase
True to its origin, our Gouda vase is curvy, colourful and flowery! The name "Gouda", given to these pottery pieces, refers to the town of manufacture rather than a single factory. Many Dutch pottery houses settled in the Gouda region because the area had so much natural clay (and cheese of course!), and the design traits that make Gouda wares so recognisable kicked off in the late 1800s. I absolutely fell in love with the classic floral design and colours used on the pot - they make me think of warm summer days. Our pot carries some damage at the rim - on the inner side and one scuff on the outer rim (please see images) - but these don't detract from this lovely piece of pottery, and certainly wouldn't be visible if flowers are in the pot.
Dimensions
Diameter at rim is 11.2cm x 21cm tall.
