Retro Denby Coffee Set

As you no doubt know, we love vintage and retro crockery here at The Good Home. The range of unique and beautiful designs are truly endless! So, it is rather unsurprising that we were totally charmed by this great set from the English manufacturer, Denby who opened their doors in 1809 and are still manufacturing wonderful ceramic homeware. The "Rondo" design hails from the the 70s and while the main body of each of the cups and small jug are a cool ridged brown, I was really captivated by the glaze used to finish each piece at the rim or edges of the saucers - the blue grey is a beautiful finishing touch. I'm also a big fan of the handles on the mugs and the creamer - they are flat at the top which is both quirky and comfortable in the hand. So, all in all, the design is pretty great in my book and certainly not something I've seen often. The set comprises 7 cups and 7 saucers, plus one jug - and all in tip-top condition. The cups are probably more in the demitasse size range but are bigger than my set of espresso cups, so they can certainly hold an espresso plus a dash of froth, milk or cream if that's your cuppa.
