Brass Coal Scuttle

I have a real soft spot for these old-school coal scuttles. Growing up, my Mom used one as a hold-all next to the front door. It included a couple of umbrellas, my hockey stick, and a trio of walking sticks that my Dad used for hikes in the koppies. Of course, they're excellent repurposed this way, especially as coal isn't used for fireplaces these days. But, come to think of it, these would probably serve nicely for kindling. This one has two great brass handles and I love the handsome mottled finish. There's no maker's information on the base, as one sometimes finds imprinted on brass items, but it's a beautifully made piece.
