Bjørn Wiinblad "Months of Love" Wall Plates (Each)
There were only three plates to be had of this 12-part series, one for each month of the year. The plates tell a courtship story in pictures - each one more beautiful than the next, and with classic Bjørn Wiinblad character. The images are detailed, whimsical and incredibly charming. This series originates from Wiinblad's long-term employment at the Danish "Nymølle Pottery" (he worked there from 1946 until the pottery ceased operations in the 1990s). This series has become one of his best-loved and known works from this period, although some of the other pieces he produced in this time are just as wonderful. The plates we have on sale include the scene under an umbrella for April (titled "Conflict"), one under a full moon for May (titled "Harmony"), and a third where the young lady is receiving a rose for June (titled "Roses"). I quite like that these three make a vignette of their own, and think they make superb gifts (for yourself or a loved one) and an excellent addition to a curated wall-scape of mid-century and vintage hangings.
Dimensions
Each plate measures 15.5cm in diameter x 0.6cm thick.
